Exhausts
Why Change your Exhaust?
Your exhaust removes poisonous gases resulting from fuel combustion
It controls emissions and reduces smoke
It reduced heat emissions
It provides acoustic comfort
It provides engine efficiency
What causes the exhaust system to wear out?
High Temperatures
The exhaust is subject to extreme temperatures around 800 Celsius at 70 mph
Internal corrosion caused by town driving
When the engine is started condensation is produced which does not evaporate on short journeys.
The exhaust system therefore fills up with water and acid mixture which attacks the internal walls.
External corrosion caused by exterior conditions
The outer casing of the exhaust system is constantly splashed with water, mud and salt which lead to rusting.
Poor combustion process
This is caused by misfires / engine management faults, sticking valves etc
What is a catalytic converter?
Carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and hydrogen’s are all very harmful exhaust gases. These can be reduced by up to 90% by the catalytic converter.
Fuel treatment can increase the life of the catalytic converter by optimising the combustion process.
Regular maintenance ensures the catalytic converter lasts longer.
Serious damage to the catalytic converter is prevented when all of the engines components (spark plugs, air filter etc) are in perfect working order.
